Hencie is survived by his two sons, Cyril (Kathy), Bart, both of New Ross; daughter Leila Richards (Jeff) of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Jay Hiltz, Amanda Gwynne-Timothy (Christopher), Josh and Jon Richards; Also survived by sisters: Ina Hiltz, Kay Gates, Marie Dixon, Lottie McAlpine (Roy), Joan Walker (Edward) and brother, Foster Hiltz (Pansy). He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Dollie Hiltz; sisters Abby, Evelyn, and brothers Reuben and Russell. Hencie was a beef and Christmas Tree Farmer most of his life in New Ross on what has now become a fifth generation farm; he was also employed by Department of Transportation and various logging companies in his earlier years. He was very active in the community, serving as a member of the Masonic Lodge and former Head Master; President and founding member of the New Ross Farmers Association; founding director of the New Ross Credit Union; long-time member and Past President of the Lunenburg Federation of Agriculture; a member of the Maritime Ox Pulling Association; a member and past warden of the St. Augustine's of Hippo Anglican Church, Forties. He very much enjoyed the farming way of life, and spent his summers sharing his passion for oxen attending the local ox pulls with his grandson, Jay. After he took an early retirement from the farm approximately seven years ago, to provide full time care for his wife Dollie, the farm continued to operate with help of Jay and the two sons, Cyril and Bart. Without a doubt, he was still in charge, albeit from the kitchen windows of the old farmhouse! Condolences may be made to the family at R.R. #1, New Ross. B0J 2M0.
