66, South Waterville, Kings Co., passed away Sunday October 19, 2008, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a lengthy illness. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Merrill and Lenora (Schofield) Lloyd-Strong. Garnet loved to hunt, fish and play cards (45's). He always was there for any one who needed help. Garnet was a former member of the Valley Search and Rescue. He worked as a carpenter most of his life. He loved to pick strawberries, blue berries & apples. Surviving are his wife Eileen (Toney) Lloyd; daughter, Shari-Lynn Lloyd (Clayton Collins), Annapolis Valley First Nation, Cambridge; son, Christopher Toney, South Waterville; grandchildren, Aaron & Nikki-Marie; foster-son, Fred Phillips Jr.; brother, Grant (Pat) Lloyd, Coldbrook; stepfather, Hartley Strong, South Waterville; half-brother, Vincent (Heather) Strong, South Waterville; half-sisters, Dianne (Gordie) Strong, North Alton; Gertrude (Debbie) Strong; Carolyn Brown, South Waterville; mother-in-law, Regina Toney; sisters-in-law, Sandra Usher & Marilyn Toney; brothers-in-law, Gerald, Brian (Christine) & Mark (Charlene) Toney, all of Annapolis Valley First Nation; Wayne (Dee) Toney, Calgary, Alberta; several nieces & nephews; special friend, Laurice Strong, South Waterville. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Bernard Toney; sister-in-law, Lorane Canning; brothers-in-law, David & Allan Toney; Robert Usher. Visitation for Garnet will take place 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 22. Rev. Glen Donnellan officiating, with burial at St. Bernadette's Church Cemetery, Annapolis Valley First Nation, Cambridge.
