83, Grand View Manor, Berwick, Kings Co., N.S., formerly of Forties Rd., New Ross, passed away Sunday January 4, 2009 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in the Forties, Minard was a son of the late Minard and Jenny Hiltz. Minard was a life long member of the St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church in the Forties, he acted as Warden of the Church for many years. He also belonged to the Golden Age Club. Minard worked as Forman for Canexel. He enjoyed gardening and dancing. He was a caring father and grandfather. Minard was a loving husband to Ida for over 39 yrs. He will be sadly missed by his many family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Ida Hiltz, Forties; step-son, Darrell Jones, Forties; daughter/granddaughter, Penny Dupuis, Coldbrook; granddaughters/great granddaughters, Cherise and Catherine. Besides his parents, Minard was predeceased by his brothers, Spencer, Daniel, Stacey and Harry; sisters, Stella Foster, Hattie West, Nellie Varner and Rose Forsythe. Visitation for Mr. Hiltz will be held from 7-9 pm. Wednesday January 7 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 38 Forties Rd., New Ross, N.S. (902-689-2961). A funeral service will be held at 10 am. Thursday January 8 in St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, Forties. Peggy Hamlin officiating. Interment will take place in the Parish cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Grand View Manor, Berwick and Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville for the care they gave to Minard. Family flowers only.
