85, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2009, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Scott and Ida (Smith) Loomer. Maude was a member of the Aylesford United Church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her five children, spending most of her life engaged in her children's upbringing and assisting her husband at his various businesses. Besides her parents, Maude was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ambrose R. Nichols; sisters, Lula and Laura Foster; brothers, Charles, Everett and Howard Loomer. Surviving are her children, Dr. Blair (Susan) Nichols, Wolfville; Terry (Debra) Nichols, Waterville; Darrell (Jane) Nichols, Ontario; Kathryn Nichols-Rose, Halifax; Bradley Nichols, Ontario; grandchildren, Mark, Andrew, Patrick, David and Stephanie Nichols; April and Kenneth Nichols; Alexander, Francine and Leslie Nichols; Kaitlin and Matthew Rose; sisters, Gertrude (Gordon) Cook, Berwick; Florence Hiltz, Kingston; Patricia Loomer, Berwick; many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Maude will take place 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Thursday, June 11. Rev. Linda Winton and Rev. Tony Cole officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in Maude's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Atlantic Division or to any charity. lindsayberwick@eastlink.ca
