87, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away Saturday August 16, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Millville, he was a son of the late, Outhit and Pearl (Rodgerson) McNeill. John worked with his father for many years logging and in the saw mill. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was stationed in North Luffingham, UK, Marville and Metz, France, CFB Borden, ON., and CFB Greenwood. He also worked in the Base Transport Section in Greenwood as a civilian employee. John enjoyed his vegetable garden and spending time with family and friends at his cottage on Lake Paul. He was an avid card player and won many trophies. He also enjoyed watching baseball. John is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs., Jean "Snooky" (Gates) McNeill; his daughter, Patricia Bélanger, Comox, B.C.; his beloved grandson, Steven John (Lisa Baker) Bélanger; great grandson, Logan Baker; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Arch and Scott; sister, Kathleen Murray. The family would like to thank, Dr. Goddard, Dr. Hadlaw and Dr. Jiwani, for their special care shown to John. There will be no visitation by the family's request. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday August 22, 2008 in Aylesford Union Cemetery, Chaplain Jim Norton officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.C.
