84, of Kentville, passed away very peacefully on Wednesday June 4, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with her family by her side. Born on August 30, 1923, in Brookfield, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Geordie and Gertie Hamilton. Vera served overseas with the R.C.A.F. in WWII. She married William H. "Bill" MacDonald in 1945. Vera was an active member of the United Church of Canada, Clan Donald, United Commercial Travelers and the United Church Women. She was the benevolent ruler of her family, known as the "Queen Mum". Vera had a very active lifestyle until the end. She was known for her love of family, pansies, and bridge. She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Garth) Gordon, Kentville; Beverley (Lyall) Jorden, Scotsburn; sons, Bradford "Brad" (Mary) MacDonald, Kentville; Larry (Anna) MacDonald, Lower Sackville; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Doris (Roy) Longard, Bridgewater. Besides her parents, Vera was predeceased by her husband Bill MacDonald and her son, Christopher; brothers, LeRoy, Merle, Rex and Eric Hamilton. Visitation for Mrs. MacDonald will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday June 6 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151). A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday June 7 in the United Church of St. Paul & St. St Stephen, Kentville. Rev. Dr. Randy Crozsman officiating. Interment will take place in Fairhaven Cemetery, Moncton N.B. at 2 p.m. Sunday June 8. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
