91, of Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Wednesday October 17, 2007, at home, in Fundy Villa, Berwick. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Williams) Ratchford. Erma was a member and past matron of Laurel Chapter # 67, Order of the Eastern Star, Berwick and was a member of the Trinity United Church, Waterville. Erma spent her younger years in Waterville. In her early married life, Erma & Eanie owned Ross's Meat Market and Fish & Chip operation in Waterville. Erma and her husband enjoyed traveling to Eastern Star meetings & shared fraternal friendships. After Eanie's death, Erma enjoyed many bus tours and trips to Florida with close friends. She resided at the Grand View Manor for 17 years, where she was President of the Apartment Club. Later, Erma moved to Fundy Villa, where she enjoyed the company of friends & staff. Erma's greatest joy in life was her family. She will be sadly missed by her family & friends. Surviving are daughter, Heather (Wayne) Hatchard, Kentville; sister, June (Farrell) Embree, Halifax; grandchildren, Susan (Darren) Crowell, Bridgewater; Katherine (Darren) O'Rourke, Centreville; Sherry (Robert) Spencer, Coldbrook; great-grandchildren, Ryan & Kesley O'Rourke, Centreville; Colton & Kristen Spencer, Coldbrook; niece, Joan (Richard) McGloin; grandniece, Meaghan McGloin, Halifax. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Eanie" Ross. Visitation for Mrs. Ross will take place 2-4 p.m. Saturday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Order of the Eastern Star Service & Funeral service will take place 4 p.m. Sunday October 21, in the Grand View Manor, 110 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Elizabeth Johnson officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or to a charity of choice.
