It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Brandon Gregory Stuart Smith, age 16, of Coldbrook. Brandon passed away as a result of a tragic motor vehicle collision on the 101 Highway, Sunday, December 16, 2007. Born in Kentville on November 21, 1991, he was the youngest beloved son of Gary and Jane (Shortt) Smith, Coldbrook. Brandon was in his second year (Grade X) attending KES. He was a platoon sergeant in the 254 Cadet Core and wore his kilt proudly. He loved snowboarding with his friends. Brandon was an animated, fun loving young man who cared deeply about others and made many friends in his short lifetime. Brandon's caring will live on as he is a transplant donor. He is survived by his mom and dad; his only brother and best friend, Jared; grandparents, Ruby and Wesley Shortt, Ottawa; Sylvia Smith, Halifax, (the late Victor Smith); special friends, Auntie Bev and Uncle Carter; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brandon will be missed but not forgotten, he will live on in the Kings Edgehill School Brandon Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund: "FOR THOSE WHO THINK BEYOND THEMSELVES". There will be no visitation by request of the family. A celebration of Brandon's life will be held at a later date with the time and place to be announced. Cremation has taken place under the care of H.C. Lindsay Funeral Homes, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville, NS, 902-678-2151.
