89 years old, of Black Rock, Kings Co., and a resident of Fundy Villa, Berwick, for three short weeks of which he enjoyed, passed away, Saturday, February 14, 2009, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his family by his side. Born in Black Rock, he was a son of the late Ernest and Maude (Frail) Schnare. Glendon worked as a construction and heavy equipment operator in the valley and Halifax areas for many years. He lived by the Bay of Fundy all his life and enjoyed the many happy hours at hand-lining and net fishing. Glendon was an avid hunter and enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music. He lived his life simply and loved gently. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian (Balsor) Schnare in 1995; sister, Shirley and brother-in-law, Murray Johnstone; half-brother, Edgar Schnare & wife Jean; half-sister, Laura and husband Howard Schnare. Surviving are daughters, Alta (Ray) Bushell; Barb (Ken) Pineo, all of Berwick; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Theresa) Bushell, South Alton; Chantal (Gordie) Atwood, Berwick; Craig Bushell (Tina Barker), Black Rock; Kendra (Jeff) Sarsfield, Black Rock Road; great-grandchildren, Haylee & Adrianna Atwood; Hayden & Maggie Sarsfield; Hunter Bushell; step-great-grandson, Nathan Atwood. There will be no visitation by Glendon's request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday February 17, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Lic. Dave Crocker officiating with a reception to follow. Burial in the East Black Rock Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
