55, Kentville, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax, on Friday July 17, 2009. Born in Springhill, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Grace (Quinn) Gilbert. Annie enjoyed life to the fullest whether it be with her extended family and friends at her home or Belle Baie and her most favorite times were spent with her family, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren around her. Annie returned to school in 1989 where she obtained her degree as an LPN and worked at Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1991. Annie will sadly be missed by her husband and best friend of 30 years, Alan, Kentville; son, Ron(Vickie Arsenault), Amherst; daughter and best friend, Tammy(Paul) McNutt, New Minas; sisters, Linda (Richard) Wallace, Oxford; Florence (Wayne) Spence, Angela (Mark) McCormick, and brother, Kenneth (Lil) Gilbert Jr., all of Springhill; several special nieces and nephews. Also surviving are grandsons, Bryce, Mason, Chris, Dean; granddaughter, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Jaiyah, Lucien and Treysyn. Visitation for Annie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151) where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, Rev. Robert Billings officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in Annie's memory may be made to The Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia , The Lung Association or charity of choice. The family would like to extend special thanks to staffs of Valley Regional Hospital, the QEII ICU and Neurological Units for their ongoing care and support.
