Obituary of Merl Rafuse

70, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away suddenly after a short illness on Monday, October 19, 2009, at home. Born in Aylesford, he was a son of the late Charles and Molley (Morton) Rafuse. Merl had worked at Colin Peel Army Surplus, Aylesford, for many years and considered Mr. Peel a good friend. Surviving are sisters, Shirley (Robert) Jackson, Kingston, Kings Co.; Sheila (Gary) Daniel, South Berwick, Kings Co.; sister-in-law. Lottie Rafuse, Cambridge, Ont.; several nieces and nephews; good friends and neighbours, David Walsh and Freddie Stevens. He will be sadly missed by his dog and companion, Tess. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Carey) Rafuse; brother, Hugh Rafuse. In keeping with Merl's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at a later date in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Palliative Care Program of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch.
