88, of Wolfville, passed away Wednesday September 9, 2009 in Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Truro, she was the eldest daughter of the late, Frederick William and Pearl Ellen (Cruickshank) Smith. Educated at the United Church Deaconess Training School in Toronto, Charlotte spent 70 yrs of her life volunteering in Christian service. Her early years were spent serving Armed Forces personnel and welcoming new Canadians at Pier 21. After marrying Rev. Charles Taylor in 1952, Charlotte volunteered together with Charlie including 30 yrs of volunteer service with Corrections Canada. In 2001 Charlotte and Charlie were the inaugural recipients of the Taylor Award from Corrections Canada so named in their honour. Charlotte worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Acadia Divinity College and at the Fundy Mental Health Center in Wolfville. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Charles James Taylor; her brothers, Edwin, Arthur & Murray Smith. She is survived by her sister, Jean Cameron; brother, Muir, both of Halifax; She will be sadly missed by her son, David (Marilyn) Taylor; daughter, Dawn Lunn; grandchildren, Joshua (Monica), Quentin (Heather), Stephanie (Tyrone), Jason and Ryan; great grandchildren, Sarah, Charles, Emily, Nadya, Olivia, Eva, Spencer, Kaira and Lena, plus many others whose lives she touched with her kindness and compassion. Visitation for Mrs. Taylor will take place from 7-9 p.m Thursday September 10 & 7-9 p.m. Friday September 11 in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 568 Main St., Wolfville (902-542-2151). A funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday September 12 in the Wolfville United Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Barry Morrison officiating. Interment will take place in Willow Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to St. Luke's Renewal Center c/o Springhouse 261 McGee St. Springhill, N.S.
