Formerly of Aylesford and Fundy Villa, Berwick, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. She was born in Auburn, Kings Co., in 1916 to the late Archibald and Jessie (Palmer) Graves. She married the late Richard Thomas (Feb. 09) in 1938 and they celebrated 70 years together on June 1, 2008. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Illsley and a brother, George Graves. She is survived by son, Dick (Diane); granddaughter, Melissa Charlton; grandson, Alex; daughter, Lynn (Alistair) MacNaughton; granddaughters, Sheina (Danny) Swinemar; Maura (Lorne) Timmons; grandson, Allan (Dawn) MacNaughton, many nieces and nephews; five great- grandchildren who were the light of her life. Evelyn was a former member of the Aylesford Baptist Church and an adherent of the Aylesford United Church. She was a life member of the Baptist Missionary Society, the Aylesford Red Cross, the Canadian Cancer Society and Aylesford United Church Women. In her early years Evelyn worked in the Post Office, in retail and wrote local news for the Berwick Register for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service for Mrs. Thomas will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the Aylesford United Church, 2414 Hwy # 1, Aylesford, conducted by Rev. Dr. Judith Saunders. Interment in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Aylesford United Church. Arrangements entrusted to the H.C.
