81, Aaldersville passed away at home on Monday January 26, 2009. Born in Great Village Nova Scotia he was the son of the late William Turbitt and Queenie (Brown). Aden was a roofer with TP Caulkin in Kentville before going to Sudbury to join Falconbridge Nickel Mines, where he worked in the smelter for 30 years before retiring. He was highly respected by his friends and co-workers. In 1985 he and Ellen re-migrated to Aaldersville where he built their retirement home. He loved the outdoors and spent his time camping, fishing, hunting, skidooing, and playing cards, he thrived on a good game of 45s. His family was always a source of joy and dedication. He was a founding member of the Garson Fish and Game Club and trained many new young hunters in firearm safety. He was a member of the Falconbridge Smelter First Aid Rescue teams for many years leading him to become a trainer and brigade member of the St. John's Ambulance Society. He was a warden of Saint James Church of Aaldersville. He was the president of the New Ross Golden Age Club for many years. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Ellen (Hamm); sons Lloyd (Jackie), Hillsburgh, Ontario; Leonard (Terry), West Porter's Lake, Nova Scotia; William (Kathie), Capreol, Ontario; Paul (Deborah), Calgary, Alberta; and daughter Angela, Aaldersville; sisters Leah (Perry) Butler, Granville Ferry; Pirl Walker, New Ross; Marilyn Levesque, Garson, Ontario; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother Gerald and sister Gladys (Halliday). Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday January 29 in H.C. Lindsay's Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151) where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday January 30, a reception to follow. Rev. Frances Boutlier officiating. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
