89, of Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday December 24, 2008. Born in Noel, Hants Co. he was the son of the late Arthur Haley and Lillian Isabel (Hamilton) Webb. Stan worked in the woods (driving horses) at an early age then became a member of the Canadian Armed Forces from Nov. 21, 1940 to Jan. 20, 1970. He was a veteran of both the Korean War and the Second World War. Stan also did two - one year tours as a Peace Keeper in Egypt. After retiring from the military he was employed as a commissionaire at C.F.B. Greenwood. Stan was very active in his community. He was a member of the Aylesford & District Lions Club and Kings County Veterans Club. He drove shuttle bus for Pharmasave, delivered Meals on Wheels, belonged to friendly neighbours and and helped out wherever needed. He loved to play cards, do jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books. Stan was a member of the Aylesford United Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather who will be sadly missed and forever remembered. He is survived by his son, Wallace (Sylvie) Webb, Quyon, Quebec; daughters, Janice (George) McNeil, Berwick; Dorothy (Murray)Legge, Centre, Lunenburg Co.; Jessie (Kenneth) Ettinger, Aylesford; grandchildren, Stanley, Sally, Brett and Alice; great-grandchildren Chrissy, Alex, Hope, Courtney and Kaitlyn; sister, Hazel Huntley, East Gore; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life his wife of 53 years, Marjory Alice, brothers, Leslie in infancy; Cecil, Freeman; sister, Bessie McCullough. Cremation has taken place under the guidance of H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service for Stan will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Aylesford United Church, 2414, Hwy # 1, Aylesford. Rev. Tony Cole officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery.
