55, Arlington, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Ontario, she was a daughter of Kathleen (Benjamen) Rand and the late Rafuse Rand. Jean worked with her husband in their family shoe repair shop, formerly in the County Fair Mall, New Minas, then moving the business to their home. She loved to play the guitar, gardening, and go for a motorcycle ride with her husband, David. Jean loved life and will be sadly missed by many family and friends. Besides her mother, Jean is survived by her husband, David Thomson; brothers, Lewis (Karen), David (Bertha), Rafuse, Alvin (Donna), Calvin (Trudie) and Richard (Melody), all of Arlington, Kings Co.; sisters, Joyce (Floyd McDonald), Arlington; Irene (Danny Sanford), Alberta; Lois Rand (Rose Towill), Canning; Marleen Rand, New Minas, and Sherry (Gerry Bennett), Kentville. Visitation for Jean will be held today from 7-9 p.m. with a funeral service on Tuesday, October 9, at 11 a.m., both in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151), with Rev. Bob Billings officiating. Burial will take place in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Kings Co. Donations in Jean's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
