Weihers, Frederick “Fred” August – age 83 years of Grandview Manor and formerly of Factorydale, Kings Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 1, 2013. Born in Germany on December 31, 1929; he was the son of the late Johann and Helene (Gesine) Weihers. Fred and his wife Peggy owned and operated a mix farm before owning and operating Weihers Convenience Store in Factorydale for 27 and a half years. He was devoted to his family, friends and community. Fred was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Left with fond and loving memories are his son Michael (Dianne) of Aylesford; daughters Mary Goucher, Wanda McBride, Anita Burns (Roger) and Veronica Weihers all of Factorydale; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Alice “Peggy” in 2011; brothers Gustave, Arnold, and Walter in infancy; sisters Hannah and Freda. Visitation will be held at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home in Berwick on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 7-9pm, from which the funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2pm with Rev. Chad Clements officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Fred made to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS (2717 Gladstone Street, Halifax, NS B3K 0A4) would be appreciated.
