Melanson, Ruth Edna – age 93 years of Plympton, passed away peacefully at the Digby General Hospital on April 14, 2013. Born in Weymouth on January 27, 1920; she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Gladys (Saulnier) Doucette. Left with fond and loving memories are her sons Edward (Beatrice) Melanson and Ralph (Gail) Melanson both of Plympton; daughters Shirley Amero (Benjamin) of Plympton, Gladys Handspiker (Victor) of Ashmore, Beverley Gosson (Sherman) of Plympton, and Judy Thibault of Ashmore; brothers Clifford Doucette of Gilberts Cove, an Reginald (Patsy) Doucette of Weymouth; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; also by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Edward James; brothers Leeman, Gifford and Ralph; sisters Blanche LeBlanc, Frances LeBlanc, Dorothy Doucette, Mary Esther Boucher, Ethel Handspiker and Beatrice Morine; granddaughter Tammy and great grandson Hailey. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 1pm from the Plympton Baptist Church (63 French Rd, Plympton) from which the funeral service will take place at 2pm with Pastor Ivan Bain officiating. Burial to take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Plympton. In memory of Ruth, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home and Crematorium, Berwick Chapel (192 Commercial St, Berwick) 538-9900.
