Obituary of Doris Lenihan

LENIHAN, Doris Iona -- 82, of Chester, formerly of New Ross, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010, in Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester. Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Nellie (Acker) Broome. Doris was a caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and caring for others. Doris always put others before herself. In her past-time she enjoyed knitting, quilting and playing bingo. Doris took care of the neighborhood cats. She also loved her dog, Mindy. Doris will be missed by her many family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Orrin Lenihan, Chester; sons, Gerhart (Diane) Lenihan, New Ross; Llewelyn (Nancy) Lenihan, New Ross; Aldon (Valerie) Lenihan, New Ross; brother, Roland Broome, Kentville; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Verna and Ora. Visitation for Mrs. Lenihan will be held from 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 38 Forties Rd., New Ross, N.S. B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961). A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, in Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, Rev. Frances Boutilier officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church, New Ross or charity of choice.
