WALKER, Hilda Madeline ?쳌 69, of New Ross, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester. Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of the late Frank Rines and Ora (Broome) (Rines) Walker. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Murray Walker; daughter, Brenda (Rodney) Hiltz, Chester Basin; son, David (Joan), New Ross; her Pride and Joy, granddaughter, Victoria Joy who enjoyed doing crafts. Sisters, Phyllis Hughes (Percy Russell), Kentville; Lorraine (Orley) Rafuse, New Ross; Sharon (Wendell) Roast, New Ross; Sheila (Ken) Hiltz, Queensland; brothers, Thorton (Mary) Rines, Chester; sister-in-law, Jackie Rines of New Ross; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Fayne Rines (New Ross). Hilda was a godmother to Charlotte (Keddy) Swinemar, Mark McDow, Debbie MacDonald, and Katelyn Hiltz. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, member of Christ Anglican Guild, and served on the Church Council for many years. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79, and played an active part doing crib, card parties and 23 years of the New Ross Legion Dart League. She worked at Ross Farm Museum for 20 years as interpreter and was coordinator of the Period Clothing Program. She was very active in sewing, knitting, and making quilts and attended many craft fairs in the area. She was a good friend of 45 years to Ruth Croft and would like to thank her for being a caring and loving roommate to her at Shoreham Village. Heartfelt thank you to Patricia who gave mom extra TLC while with Shoreham Village with her warm hugs and friendly smiles to her family. Enjoyed playing games and learning to do crafts and especially enjoyed all her shopping trips with Victoria. She always looked forward to her visits at Shoreham. There will be a visitation from 7-9 on Friday, March 12 at the H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, New Ross. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, in Christ Anglican Church, New Ross with Rev. Bonnie Baird officiating. Interment will be in Christ Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 38 Forties Rd., New Ross, NS B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961). Artificial flowers only.
