TRUEMAN (Sheffield), Geraldine Marie - Gerry쳌 - 89, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away peacefully in Grand View Manor, Berwick, on Monday, March 29, 2010. She was born on Feb. 22, 1921, in Advocate Harbour, where she spent her youth and developed a fascination and love for nature, often taking the local children on nature walks. This community of family and friends remained foremost in her heart always. After Normal College in Truro, she taught in Fox River and Advocate. On Dec. 22, 1943, she married Whitley Alder Trueman in Parrsboro just prior to his serving overseas. Gerry taught at The Halifax Ladies College while Whitley attended Kings Divinity College. Whitley?¢s Anglican ministry called them to Arichat, New Germany, Yarmouth, Wolfville, Charlottetown, and Parrsboro. The consumate minister?¢s wife, Gerry welcomed all to the Rectory with grace, affection and delicious homebaking! She enjoyed birding, berry picking, knitting, crewelwork, piano playing, The Blomidon Naturalist Society, the ACW, nature walks with friends and all things - family쳌. She was a magnet for young children, especially her grandchildren, and a fountain of information on - all things natural쳌. She is survived and dearly remembered by sons, Hazen (Gillian), Berwick; Bill (Anne), Arlington, Kings Co.; grandchildren, Catherine - Cate쳌, David, Stephanie (Stephen Mannette) & W. Alexander; great-grandson, Issac Mannette; sisters, Dorie Rundle, B.C.; Mary (Gerald) McKinley, Wolfville; cousin, Reg (Eva) Ells, Advocate; and many affectionate nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Whitley (her beloved husband of 60 years), parents John & Connie Sheffield of Advocate, siblings, Merrill (Ardis); Kate (Cam Putt); Scott (Betsy) and grandson, Timothy. Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, April 4, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). A service in celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 5, at 2:00 pm in Christ Anglican Church, 238 Commercial St., Berwick, Rev. Charles Bull officiating, with reception to follow at the church hall. Spring/summer gathering and interment in Advocate and Parrsboro. Special thanks to - the best staff in the world쳌 at Orchard View and Grand View Manor, the Rev. Charles Bull, Dr. Robin Bustin and to our amazing family & friends for all their support and kindnesses. Family flowers only.
