Born in Prince Albert, Sask., he was a son of the late George and Clementina (Clarke) Bishop. Lorne was a well rounded man who was known for his intellect. He was an innovative man, having many creative ideas and enjoyed a challenge. Lorne wasn't a man of many words, but, the words he did speak, spoke volumes. He loved the outdoors spending much of his time watching nature take its course. Lorne had many occupations throughout his life including work in drilling camps and coal mines and he spent a lot of time staking claims in the North West Territories where there is a lake named after him, "L. Bishop Lake". He was also a farmer, mechanic and electrician all before becoming employed with BC Rail where he was a Torchman and Carman until his retirement. Lorne was musically inclined, singing, yodeling and playing many different instruments with ease. Lorne is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eliza (Bishop); sons, Lyle, New Westminster, B.C.; Frank, Greenwich; Richard (Cathy), Squamish, B.C.; Ryan (Michelle), Port Coquitlam, B.C.; Norman,Dawson Creek, B.C.; Dan (Christy), Berwick; daughters, Catherine "Katy" (Richard) Graham, Dawson Creek, B.C.; Lorna Bishop, Squamish, B.C.; Arlene Bishop (Ken Zawitkoski), Fort McMurray, Alta.; sisters, Rita Cosens, Kamloops, B.C. and Daisy McKay, Prince Albert, Sask.; 19 grandchildren; several foster grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Lorne was predeceased by a grandson. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 29, Rev. Linda Winton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
