CORKUM, Hartley Keith ?ì³71, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010, at home. Born in North River, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Ralph and Phyllis (Silver) Corkum. Hartley had worked for Easson Transport Ltd., Berwick, and later owned and operated "Star" Taxi Service in Berwick, from 1970-2004. He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Muriel A. (Lynch) Corkum, Berwick; sons, Ralph H. (Cathy), Banff, Alta.; Tyler Lee, Berwick; daughter, Brenda D. (Tanya) Corkum, Kentville; brothers, Aubrey (Caroline), Tom, George (Heather), Gerald, all of Windermere; sisters, Grace Murphy, Truro; Gertrude (Lloyd) Smith, West Berwick; Betty (Edwin) McIntyre, Upper Gagetown, N.B.; Marie (Wendell) Smith, Swan Creek, N.B.; Myrtle (Carl) Allen, Upper Gagetown, N.B.; Christina Corkum, Kentville; mother-in-law, Mary Lynch of Woodville. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, David; sister, Gyneth. Visitation for Hartley will take place from 7-9 p.m., Monday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 11. Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch. Hartley's family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of the Victorian Order of Nurses Home Care Team as well as to the Doctors and Nurses at the Valley Regional Hospital for their many years of care and compassion shown to Hartley.
