TELFER, Wilbert Richard, 82, Wolfville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Boston, Mass., he was a son of the late Fred and Florence (Germaine) Telfer. He grew up in Caledonia, and attended NSAC in Truro, and then became an electrician by trade. Wilbert taught at NSIT, Halifax, and NSCC, Kentville. He also worked for Nova Scotia Department of Labor for 25 years as an apprenticeship Counselor for various trades. Wilbert worked with the Boy Scouts and volunteered for several charities. He was an avid genealogist, a member of the Mayflower Society, and traced his family tree back generations, making several trips to Scotland. Wilbert enjoyed travel, antique cars, bird watching, carpentry, and most of all the many happy hours spent at his cottage at Harmony Lake. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Orde), son, Reid (Dai), daughters Margo (Paul) Barrett, Cynthia (Akivah), brother Leonard (Beth), granddaughter Brianna Barrett, and step granddaughter Jenny Tang, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Ronald, Ronald?¢s wife Rosamund, and two sisters in infancy. Cremation has taken place and no visitation by request. Donations in Wilbert?¢s memory may be made to Parkinson?¢s Society of Nova Scotia. Family flowers only by request. The Memorial Service, followed by a reception, will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 1:00 pm at Serenity Funeral Home & Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, with Rev. Barry Morrison officiating. The interment will take place at a later date.
