HILTZ, Edgar Herman - 78, Dempsey Corner, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with family and friends at his side after a long battle with cancer. Born in Avonport, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Sawler) Hiltz. Edgar was a licensed carpenter, and had worked as a line man and carpenter at 14 Wing Greenwood for a total of 30 years, retiring in May of 1990. He had many accomplishments in his life one of which was building and living in 10 houses that he had built in the Aylesford area. Edgar?¢s first car was a Ford and always had a love for Ford products. He consecutively purchased 17 Ford Trucks during his life. Edgar was also a farmer all of his life and in recent years enjoyed helping his son, Robert on his farm. He enjoyed wood working, going to ox pulls, flagging for local snowmobile races, playing cards and spending time with his cattle. For the past five years Edgar received great enjoyment from his dog - Missyì³. Surviving are sons, Robert, Aylesford; Allan, Alberta; daughter, Lynn (Keith) Hebb; grandson, Brandon Hebb, Aylesford; sisters, Ruby (Meb) Reid; Doris Campbell, Alberta; Hazel Keddy, New Ross; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Karen E. (Hiltz) Demille; brothers, Bob and John; sisters, Mary Selby; Beatrice Hill; Nita Eldridge. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend a Graveside Service for Edgar at 3 p.m., Friday, June 11, in the Aylesford Union Cemetery, Reverend Michael Mugford officiating, followed by a reception at the Aylesford and District Fire Hall, 1083 Park Street, Aylesford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edgar?¢s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Program of Annapolis Valley Health or to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Annapolis Valley Branch.
