HUGHES, Doris Hilda ?쳌 92, Chester, formerly of New Ross, passed away Thursday June 10, 2010, in Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester. Born in Lake Ramsey, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Naomi (Hiltz) Veinott. Doris was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a knack for creating beautiful gardens. She enjoyed hooking and braiding mats, quilting and and crocheting. Doris was a hard worker and had her own small business, operating a canteen. She also worked for Pat's Ladder grocery store, Weavexx and picked apples for Canada Foods Ltd. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Donald Hughes; sons, Lester, Oliver and Gilbert Hughes; brothers, Leland, Earnest, Malcolm Veinott; sister, Reta Reeves. She is survived by daughter, Paulette (Karl) Ernst, Tantallon; brother, Cedric (Carolyn) Veinott, Lake Ramsey; sisters, Marjorie (Frank) Skerry, Mahone Bay Nursing Home; Frances (Maurice) Olmstead, and Winnie (Freeman) Olmstead, both of Shoreham Village Nursing Home; Loretta (Elmer) Neville, Kentville; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 in Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, Rev. Frances Boutilier officiating. Interment will take place in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, following the funeral service. The family would like to thank Betty Hughes and all the girls that helped look after Doris at home and all the staff at Shoreham Village for their wonderful care for the past six years.
