WARD, Leo Watson - 82, Canning, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Waterville, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Colin and Nola Ward. Leo had worked at logging, farming, trucking and later as a Mechanic for Irving Oil for many years, he then worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic for Valley Truck and Trailer. Leo enjoyed music, loved to sing, time spent with his family and time spent hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie (Smith) Ward of Canning; son, Rodger (Jeanie) Ward, Aylesford; daughters, Darlene (David) Rafuse, Cambridge; Carol (Wayne Zwicker) Ward, New Albany; Sandy (Cameron Russell) Ward, New Ross; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Aubrey and Harrison, New Minas; Jim, Lawrencetown; sister, Veulah (Vernon) Bruce, Nictaux; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Roland, Elderidge and Arthur; sisters, Neta, Norma, Edna, Beatrice, Hazel and Leora. Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 26, both in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating, with burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
