Obituary of Carl Franklyn Fish

FISH, Carl Franklyn, 66, of Belmont, Hants Co., passed away September 6, 2010 at the Hants Community Hospital. Carl was born on December 13, 1943 in Belmont to the late Harold and Dorothy (MacLean) Fish. He was a kind, caring, and generous man who would do anything for anyone who needed a helping hand. Carl had a great outlook and perspective on life, giving him the endurance to fight a courageous and brave battle against cancer. He moved to Ontario when he was 20 years old and worked there for 11 years. Carl returned to Nova Scotia in 1974 and worked at Halifax Metal Workers for several years before moving on to RKO Steel in Dartmouth for 27 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golfing. Carl is survived by his wife of 42 years, Caroline (Weatherby) of Belmont, two daughters Christina (Jamie) Leighton of Ellershouse, and Catharine (Daniel) White of Ottawa, Ont.; his brothers David (Irene) of Salmo, B.C., and Bruce (Anne) of Three Mile Plains, sisters Pauline (James) Tucker of Falmouth and Doris of Springfield, Ont., and his three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jenna and Nolan Leighton. He will also be missed by his dog Patch. As per Carl?¢s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and there will be a Graveside Service at St. Silas Cemetery in Belmont, Hants Co., on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow at the Belmont Hall. Donations in Carl?¢s memory may be made to the St. Silas Cemetery in Belmont through Sylvia Sanford or directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses for all their kindness and care.
