HILTZ, Foster Owen - 83, Forties, Lunenburg County, passed away September 12, 2010 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with family and friends by his side. Foster - Keeper of the forestì³, was the youngest son of the late Owen and Alice (Keddy) Hiltz. Foster is survived by his wife Pansy (Reeves) Hiltz; daughter Sheila McKeand, Bermuda; son Kevin (Carol Sanford), Forties; daughter Vanda (Eric) Dow, Coldbrook; son Bradford (Ruth), Lantz; sisters Ina Hiltz, Forties, Kay (Clara) Gates, Blandford, Marie Dixon, Dartmouth, Lottie (Roy) McAlpine, Dartmouth, Joan (Edison) Walker, Truro; grandchildren Tyler Dow, Todd Dow, Chloe Hiltz, Benjamin Hiltz, Jack Hiltz and Dianna Hiltz; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Foster was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn, Abbie; brothers, Ruben, Russell and Hencie. Foster was a well respected community worker. Foster worked as a mill worker, a truck driver and managed his own land through logging and Christmas tree farming. Foster was also a woodsman working in lumber camps where he had many good tales of those days. Foster will be remembered for working on the board of directors with the Forties Community Centre, WAYS (We Appreciate Your Service), and Family Services. Foster was a member of the St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Forties where he was a church warden for many years. He loved being a member of the Mahone Bay and area Lions Club. Foster will be remembered for his Bingo calling and his passion to play cards (Auction 45?¢s), attend country music shows and the sport of fishing. Foster especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved family gatherings. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday September 14, 2010 in the Forties Community Centre. A Funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Forties with The Reverend Frances Boutilier officiating. Burial will be in the St. Augustine?¢s Anglican Church Cemetery. Donations in memory of Foster may be made to the St. Augustine?¢s Anglican Church, St. Augustine?¢s Anglican Church Cemetery, Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia, or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
