Fowler, Ronald William Edward "Ron" - 87, Wolfville passed away December 2, 2010 in Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Bristol, England he was a son of the late Edward and Doris (Powell) Fowler. Ronald, known as "Ron", joined the RAF before his 18th birthday and served 5 years during war time. He was a radio operator during his service. He flew for a 6 month period from England to South America with commercial air, post war. He immigrated to Canada in 1949. He worked as a accountant in Toronto. Eventually he joined the RCAF and served in many bases. His last posting being in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Retiring to Wolfville, he took a job at Acadia University working 13 years in the maintenance department retiring in 1986. He made many personal friends with the Acadia Professors as he cleaned their offices. Ron met Madeline Taylor in 1990. Their relationship took them on an adventure where they hosted workshops in their home called "Heritage Hill Learning Centre" in Lower Wolfville. Ron cooked for these workshops until he was 78 years if age. In 2001 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and this adventure brought him in constant contact with care givers who benefited from knowing him. He was a teacher, a spiritual leader and lover of life and those who came in contact with him benefited. Ron is survived by his wife Madeline (Flewwelling) Taylor; stepchildren, Mike (Tanis) Taylor, (Zachary, Matthew, Cameron, Kristen), Danny (Sophie Roussel) Taylor, (Jessica Roussel, Matthew Mingo), Shawn (Lisa MacDonell) Taylor (Jacob, Lily), Janelle Taylor (Kirby Mockler), (Katie, Kalan Mockler), Joel (Lana) Taylor, (Luke); brother, Brian (Ethel) Fowler, Newton Abbot, Devon, UK; niece, Andrea Fowler. Besides his parents Ron was predeceased by his former wife Rita (Ranger) Fowler (died 1986). Visitation will be today, Friday December 3, 2010 from 11:00 am- 12:45 pm in Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville. A graveside service will be 1:00 pm today in Willowbank Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday December 11, 2010 in the Wolfville Lions Club, 36 Elm Ave, Wolfville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Dancers of Universal Peace or to the charity of choice.
