KERR (Hiltz), Blossom Martha - 80, West Brooklyn, Kings Co., passed away peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her daughter-in-law, Jeannette by her side on Thursday, December 16, 2010. Having been diagnosed with cancer in April, Blossom handled her challenges - one day at a time쳌. Born June 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the Lorne and Eva (Newcomb) Hiltz, of West Brooklyn. She was a member of the West Brooklyn Baptist Church and also the Gems and Jewels of Gaspereau. Blossom enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She donated several hundred pairs of mittens to the Christmas Daddies Program for needy children over the years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Blossom was also very involved in her children?¢s and grandchildren?¢s lives. She believed in and supported her family, church, community and helped many charities. Blossom also enjoyed correspondence with pen pals from all around the world. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Rod (Jeannette), West Brooklyn; Carl (Sandra) Lockartville; grandchildren, Andy, Joey, Mike and Michelle; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilbert, Howard, both of West Brooklyn; sister, Doris Hiltz, Kentville. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Jesse Kerr; infant son; sisters, Elsie and Rosie; brother. Milton. Visitation for Blossom will take place from 7-9 p.m., Saturday in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main St., Wolfville, N.S., B4P 1E7, (902-542-4656), from where the funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 19. Rev. Barb Cochrane officiating, Burial in the West Brooklyn Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the West Brooklyn Hall. No flowers by her request, donations in Blossom`s memory may be made to the Carey Me Fund for Paliative Care at the Valley Regional Hospital. Blossom`s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of QE II Cancer Centre, Halifax, Valley Regional Hospital, and to Dr. Cwajna, Dr. Jeyahumar, Dr. Berry and Dr. Mulherin for the care shown to Blossom during her battle with cancer.
