ARENBURG, Emerson S. - 77, New Albany, Annapolis Co., formerly of Beaconsville, Annapolis Co., passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in North River, Kings Co., he was the son of the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Schaffer) Arenburg. Emerson was a farmer all of his life and had worked at Sterling Farms and later at Visser Farms. He was very proud to eventually own his own mixed farm in New Albany. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor L. (Houghton) Arenburg, New Albany; step-children, Henry Witter, Somerset; John (Trish) Witter, Cambridge; Nicole (Dean) Jordan, Gaspereau; Dorothy (John) Greene, Centreville; several step-grandchildren; brothers, Earl, Conquerall Mills; Leslie, New Minas; Howard and Harold, both of Waterville; Clarence and Robert, both of Amherst; sister, Leora (Leo) Spinney; Black River; half-brother, Lester Cleveland, Waterville; half-sisters, Violet Cleveland and Priscilla Dixon, both of Waterville; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Charlie; a half-brother in infancy; step-father, Elmer Cleveland; sister, Helen Tanner; half-sister, Pearl Brewster. Visitation will take place from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Monday, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18. Rev. Charles Bull officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations in his memory may be made to the Kings Co. S.P.C.A.
