Obituary of Lillian Gertrude Rhynold
Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rhynold, Lillian Gertrude - age 99. It is with deep and profound sadness that the family of Lillian Rhynold announce her death. She passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital on February 23, 2011, surrounded by love with family by her side. She celebrated her 99th birthday at Ocean View Manor on January 7, where she had lived for 12 years. Lillian, the daughter of the late Leslie and Bessie Thorpe of Ross Corner, Kings County, was the last survivor of sixteen children. She married Alfred Stanley Rhynold of White Dover, Guysborough County, in 1936. The couple lived and raised their three children in Berwick: Patsy Gloria (Grant) Stevens of Blind Bay, B.C.; Larry Richard Rhynold (who pre-deceased her in 2003); and Ann Elizabeth (Arthur) Miller of Halifax. Lillian dearly loved spending time with her brothers and sisters, and maintained close relationships with them throughout her life. She was a phenomenal homemaker and cook, and was totally devoted to her family. She took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren: Craig (Pearl) Stevens, High Level, Alberta; Teresa (Gordon) Ross of Devon, Alberta; Sharmin (Alvin) Banfield of Labrador City, NL; and Tara (Ali) Miller of Halifax, NS. She was blessed with ten great - grandchildren - Craig?¢s children: Rian, Cody, Kole, Gage; Teresa?¢s children: Brittney and David; Sharmin?¢s children: Kyanna and Kourtney; and Tara?¢s children: Noah and Gabrielle. After losing the love of her life in her early 60?¢s, she demonstrated her extreme capabilities, remaining both strong and gentle. She was before her time when it came to frugal, comfort food. She was seen by many as a pleasant, elegant and classy woman with a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to travel with her family, taking trips to Calgary, Maine, Florida, Labrador City and River John. Lillian spent many of her senior years in New Minas, Nova Scotia where she took part in many activities with the Seniors Club. One of her favourite activities was listening to music and dancing at the Legion. Cremation has taken place with a celebration of her life to be held in the summer of 2011 at River John, Pictou County. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home & Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, NS B4P 1E7. Donations or Cards in memory may be sent to this address or on-line at: www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca.
