Obituary of Leonard Herbert Keddy

KEDDY, Leonard Herbert - 82, New Ross; passed away February 24, 2011, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater; after a very long, difficult battle with lung cancer. Born in New Ross, on October 6, 1928; he was the son of the late Howard and Hazel (Mullaley) Keddy. He began working at the early age of 15 doing wood and mill work, and then in the Christmas tree business where he met his wife, Norma. Leonard also worked in construction in 1969, then returned to the woods where he was severely injured and became disabled in 1974. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid reader of western novels. Leonard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma (MacRae); sons Russell (Frances), New Ross; Cory (Kathy), New Ross; daughters Marilyn, Steam Mill; Gloria (Darrell) Hiltz, Grand Pre; brother Howard Jr., New Ross; sisters Alice Walker, New Ross; Helen Fairbanks, Bridgewater; sisters in law Evelyn MacNutt, Betty Blackmore, Alma Swan, Colchester County; grandchildren Wade, Jason, Andrew, Trista, Evan, Tammy, Crystal; and great granddaughter Nevaeh. Besides his parents, Leonard was predeceased by brothers Leo, Russell, Avery, and sister Ethel Broome. The family wishes to express a special note of thanks to Dr. Karen Cox, Dr Heather Robertson, Louise Blackie, Palliative Care; Shelley Reeves, Wanda Inglis, VON; Connie Taylor, Continuing Care; and all the staff of the Surgical Unit of the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Keeping with Leonard?¢s wishes; there will be a graveside service held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church Cemetary, New Ross; or New Ross Volunteer Fire Department.
