CORBETT, Darrell Eugene - Corì³ - 76, Berwick, Kings Co. It is with great sadness that Darrell?¢s family announces that he peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, where he was a life-long resident, he was the son of the late Haliburton and Armina (Savage) Corbett. Darrell had served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and had worked for several years at the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission in Berwick. He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch # 69, Berwick, a charter member of the Bluenose BoSox Brotherhood and was a life member of the Berwick and District Lions Club. Darrell served as King Lion, Zone Chairman and was instrumental for the formation and was an advisor of the Berwick and District Leo Club. He was a recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian service from Lions Club International Foundation. Darrell was a sport enthusiast and was an avid Boston Red Sox and Acadia Axeman hockey fan. He was a former member of the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame Committee and was inducted to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame as a - Builderì³ in June of 2005. Darrell will be greatly missed by his sister, Barbara (Robert) Smith, Fredericton, N.B.; nieces, Vanda (Craig) Newton, Bedford; Susan Smith, Calgary, Alta.; Lisa Gerber and Jill (Gary) Gesner, Fredericton, N.B.; great-nieces, Shayla, Vanessa and Tianna Gerber; great-nephew, Cody Newton. Visitation for Darrell will take place from 7-9 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday evenings in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service and Lions Club Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 11, in the Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Marilyn Rose officiating, assisted by Rev. Murray Shaw. Burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Berwick Baptist Church, the Berwick and District Lions Club or to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame. The family would like to say a special thank you to Darrell?¢s many friends, who were his extended family, for their concern, love and compassion shown to him throughout his life.
