Smith, Shirley Joan (Charlton) 67, of Kentville, NS passed away on April 20, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital. She was born in Annapolis Royal and was the only daughter of the late Donald and Marion (Douglas) Charlton. Shirley will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, witty personality, and her permanent smile. She also enjoyed Bluegrass gospel music; especially, the Spinney Brothers. Shirley was a member of the New Horizons Seniors Club in Kentville and also an adherent in the Kentville Baptist Church. Besides her son Donald, she is survived by he loving husband of 49 years, Marland (Bud) Smith. At the family request there will be no visitation and cremation has already taken place. A funeral service will take place at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, Nova Scotia B4P 1E7 on Tuesday, April 26, 2011at 2:00 pm with Reverend John McNally officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
