STRONG, Hartley Alfred - 90, South Waterville, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Cambridge Station, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Frank and Della (Taylor) Strong. Hartley had been a truck driver all of his life, retiring from Avon Foods, Berwick. He was a hard worker, owned his own farm and always enjoyed driving his tractor. Hartley enjoyed spending time with his oxen, horses and favourite dog, Elmo. Surviving are daughters, Diane (Gordon Bowlby) Strong; Gertude (Debbie Gabriel) Strong; Carolyn Brown, all of South Waterville; foster daughter, Carol Walsh, Kentville; step-son, Grant (Pat) Lloyd, Coldbrook; daughter-in-law, Heather Strong; step-daughter-in-law, Eileen Lloyd, both of South Waterville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Barteaux, Niagara Falls Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lenora B. (Schofield) Strong; son, Vincent; step-son, Garnet Lloyd; brothers, Angus, Harold, Orley and Laurice; sisters, Pauline Lutz and Edna McGee. In accordance with Hartley?¢s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service and a private interment will take place at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to any charity.
