Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SMITH, Harold Edward - 69, of Annapolis County, passed away suddenly at home June 11, 2011. Ed was the son of the late Harold and Ethel Smith of Kingston, Nova Scotia. Born in Kingston on April 20, 1942, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces since joining at the age of 18 in 1960. Former Fire Chief of CFB St. Margaret?¢s, New Brunswick, Ed was currently serving as a Platoon Chief at the CFB Gagetown Fire Department. Ed loved nothing better than to relax outside in the yard and to play with the dogs. He loved to read the Chronicle Harold everyday to catch up on the news. A lot of Ed?¢s spare time was spent on his love of repairing vehicles; it was a favorite pastime of his. Ed was a very strong man, and set more than an example for his children on standing up for what he believed in, and never backing down. Ed gave his all in everything he did; he will be very much missed by his wife Carol-Anne, daughters Lindsey and Candace, sons Donnie, Jon, Sandy and Daniel. Leaving behind many grand children, whom he loved very much, as well as his brothers and sisters, he also leaves behind his brotherhood of fellow firefighters at CFB Gagetown. We salute you! A celebration of his life will be held at Annapolis Royal Fire Hall on Thursday June 16, 2011 at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made for his son Daniels continued education.Arrangements are under the care of Serenity Lindsay Funeral Homes, 568 Main Street Wolfville, B4P 1E7, donations and condolences can be sent to the above address or the website at http://www.serenityfuneral.com/ .
