Hall, James Charles - 84, Digby, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2011. Born March 17, 1927, in Digby, Charlie was the son of the late Emily Abbot. Charlie opened " Hall's Furnishing" on Water Street, in 1963, and later in 1976, with his son Glen, the doors opened to " Hall's Carpets" in Brighton. He was a founding member of the Digby East Fish and Games Association, past member of the Digby Fire Department and Kiwanis, served on the Town Council and was past Chairman of the Water Commission. He was the Warden of the Trinity Anglican Church, a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a brother in the Masonic Lodge and an active member of Western Valley Shriners. Charlie recently travelled abroad to France with his daughter Lynn, where he visited Vimy Ridge and soon after to Cape Town, South Africa for his granddaughter's wedding. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Lorraine Hall. Loving father of Lynn and her husband Richard Cook; and son, Glen and his wife Rebecca. Dearest Grampy to Tiffany, Joyelle, Trent, Charity, Payton, Shayne, Brooke, Brandy and Trevor; Great Grandfather to Aiden, Sydney, Olivia, Brett, Logan, Kaidin, Riley, and Morgan; several special nieces and nephew, and extended family across Canada will also miss "Uncle Charlie". Besides his mother, Charlie was predeceased by his dear daughter, Lee Hall Curtis, step-father James Abbot, and grandparents Ellen and Joesph Hall. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time ay his camp at Big Lake. He was often seen in parades across the Maratimes in his "Fred Flinstone" car and he could always be found in his workshop where he built many wonderful things through the years. He will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held in the Trinity Anglican Church in Digby, on Friday July 29, 2011, followed by a reception at Branch No. 20 Digby Royal Canadian Legion. At the request of the family there will be no visitation, and family flowers only, Cremation has taken place, with an internment at a later date in Digby, In lieu of flowers; donations in Charlie?¢s memory can be made out to the IWK Health Center Foundation, Shriners Hospitals, or to the Trinity Anglican Church.
