Furzeland, Sydney George Robert - 81 of Newport Station, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4th, 2011 in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on December 4th 1929 in Plympton, Devon, England, he was the eldest son of the late Sydney George and Florence (Ford) Furzeland. Syd immigrated from Plymouth, Devon, England with his wife and four children in July 1967 and quickly settled in Newport Station. Syd was a painter and paperhanger most of his working life; once he had completed his ââ?¬Ã?Guilds?¢ and after his service with the Royal Transport Corps. A polite, gentle man, willing to give a helping hand and who enjoyed being a spectator of sports; including ones played by his children. Syd is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Oikle) Furzeland, sons Sydney "Robert", Halifax; John (Marie), East Uniacke; Paul (Mia), Nanaimo, BC; Michael (Loida), Jasper; Mark (Nadine), Windsor; daughters Michele (Jim) Wilson, Windsor; and Zoe Ellen (Bobby Gentles) Furzeland, Halifax; brothers Gordon (Violet), Plymouth, England; Ray (Ann), Leece, England; Brian (Joan), Plymouth, England; Keith (Loretta), Plymouth, England; sister Sylvia (Colin) Spendlove; and Susan (Michael) Annis, both of Plymouth, England; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Syd was predeceased by sister, Mavis Telfer and nephew Gordon Furzeland of England. There will be no funeral. However, there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Three Mile Plains. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dykeland Lodge for their kindness and compassion. Donations in Syd's memory may be made to the Windsor Food Bank or the Windsor Gliders Club.
