Feener, James Guilford - 81, of New Minas, passed away peacefully on his birthday Sunday, October 23, 2011 while surrounded by his loving family at Valley Regional Hospital. Born in New Albany, he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Varner) Feener. James enjoyed working as an electrician and a refrigeration technician; he especially enjoyed his work in Newfoundland and Labrador. He will be missed for his wonderful sense of humor which he held onto until the very end. He loved hunting and fishing at - the campì³ in Waterloo. James was also known to have a special place in his heart for cats and had several throughout his lifetime. In recent years he developed new hobbies which included Bingo night with Kelli and Leona, and lexicon puzzles. James adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; he will be sadly missed. He is survived by his son Ernest, Canning; daughters Darlene (Michael Brylinsky), Sheffield Mills; Kelli Mahoney, New Minas; grandchildren Jocelyn May (Halifax), Nicholas Mahoney, Port Williams; great grandchildren Katelyn May; and Sophie May; brothers Roy (Etta), Dartmouth; Douglas (Joan), New Albany; Ronald, New Albany; sisters Shirley (Jack Somers), Eastern Passage; Joan Gaul, New Albany; friend and former wife Leona, New Minas; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, James is predeceased by long time companion Renna Keating; brothers Carl; Cecil; Mervin; and sisters Verna and Ruby. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to all of the caring staff at the Valley Regional Hospital, especially the nurses on Medical B and to Dr. Barry. At James?¢ request there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at the Whitman Cemetery.
