It has been a year already since Don passed into the arms of our caring Lord. I will always remember him as such a gentleman and some of his jokes like "How do you have such a successful marriage? The reply being he always has the last words and that is "YES DEAR". I visited him in the Veterans Hosp and he had never changed. Still such a polite, gentleman and still with that sense of humor. My thoughts are with his family, also for the life of Heady that brought so much light into any room. Also so sad to hear of Peter passing. That would have broken her heart, she was so protective and worried so much about him. I was very fortunate to have spent time with Don and Heady. They will be forever in my heart. Sincerely, Penny

Timothy & Christopher
Itchr(39)s hard to believe its been a year since your Dadchr(39)s passing. Wechr(39)ve been grieving his loss for many years because of alzheimerchr(39)s but itchr(39)s still hard to know we wonchr(39)t see him again in this lifetime. Mom and I have been talking about your Dad quite a bit lately. She really admired and looked up to him as he was like a father to her after Ernest died. We all miss his quick wit, his cheery disposition and his story telling. Hope you are all well and look forward to seeing you some time.

My sincerest sympathy for the loss of Don, your brother (to Julia) and a Father to Christopher and Timothy, as well as a brother to Leslie and James. Don was a wonderful person. I remember having Don and Hetty here to dinner near to the time of her passing. Hetty said,"Let Don quote some poetry. He can still do that." He certainly did and with such expression. Don and Hetty were both good friends of mine and were both very kind, generous and compassionate people. I know that Donchr(39)s last few years were not the best, but he kept his smile and enthusiasm. I am sorry that I cannot attend the funeral, but as is the case, music teachers have to teach. My best wishes to you all. Marlene (Jackson)

Dear Christopher and Timothy, Let me add my voice to the many who hold both your father and mother in their memories. Such wonderful memories and blessings from them are a gift to us all. As a couple and as individuals they set fine examples for me and I doubt that I shall ever forget them. I wish you both peace and blessings in your lives.

?To The Jackson Family,
We want to extend our deepest sympathy to all of you in the loss of your dear Don. We knew Don while he was in Camp Hill with our Dad (Fulton Andrews) who passed away in Feb. 2008 with Lewy Body Dementia. Seeing your Dad with his warm smile, daily greetings and his visits in Dadchr(39)s room were the highlights of time with Dad. Donchr(39)s singing voice would bring tears to our eyes and we were so amazed how he would remember the words to many songs. He also had quite a penchant for hats and if we couldnchr(39)t find Dadchr(39)s hat, then we knew that it could be on Donchr(39)s head or in his room. He also walked with such dignity. We grew to become very fond of some of the other patients on Dadchr(39)s ward, but your father was one of the dearest to us. We understand the sadness in watching dementia rob a parent of their true selves, but it never robs us of our love for them. On behalf of my brothers, Douglas & Paul and my sister, Muriel Hudson and our extended families (Dadchr(39)s grandchildren also knew Don), we want to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers on the loss of your dear Don,
Priscilla & Dave Kovacs,
Dartmouth, NSââ?¬ÃÂ

I was sorry to learn of the death of Don. He and Hetty were kind to me when I was at Acadia, and later when I was first in ministry. I also knew Peter, who was organist and choir director when I pastored in Brooklyn, Queens County, Nova Scotia. I had not heard of his death prior to now. "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted."Psalm 34:18I am remembering you in prayer.

Don was president of the NS Federation on Alcohol & Other Drug Problems during most of the period that I was employed with the Federation. I could rely on him to chair a meeting and keep the directors in good order, always calmly and firmly, even when tempers were rising all around him. My family and I also enjoyed Don and Hettychr(39)s hospitality in the Port Williams parsonage.
We Christians are fortunate knowing that the death of our earthly bodies is not the end of us -- rather it is the next step in our journey to God.

To the Jackson family
Your father and grandfather was a source of great encouragement to me. During my student days at UBBTS he was a real mentor to me.I quite often would go with him as he conducted worship services around the area. Often he would say " now today I want you to take part in the service by doing such and such.I would say that he was a great model in ministry. Many things I have learned from him.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, He was a blessing to all that knew him. Even with his illness in the last years he was so pleasant. I visited him a few times in Halifax. I was surprised to here about Peter although I knew he had a health problem. It was my pleasure to help your Mom when she needed it, and to spend time with your Dad. My thoughts are with you, -Penny Guptill
