Obadiah (Obie) Freeman MacInnis-98, Falmouth, formally of Scott?¢s Bay Road, passed away, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Windsor Elms Village. Born on Belcher Street, Kings county. He was the son of George and Eliza Jane (Bezanson) MacInnis. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He received his education in various country schools throughout Kings county and Hants County. In 1939 he went to Scott?¢s Bay Road to work in the lumber woods at Shettle-de-Nogue. He met his late wife, Leona Corkum, and they married in 1941. He resided on Scott?¢s Bay Road all his married life until failing health in 2008 when he went to live with his daughter, Muriel. In June 2009 he moved to Windsor Elms Village where he resided until his passing. He was a dedicated man. He had a family of seventeen children and cared for a granddaughter Christine and a grandson Allison. A special father; grandfather; great grandfather and great- great-grandfather. In later years when he could no longer do manual work he took up crocheting. His afghans were prized by all who received them. He is survived by seven daughters: Muriel (Donald) Barkhouse, Habitant; Freda (Donald) Hill, Centreville; Daisy Morgan, Grand Prairie, Alberta; Ruby (Edward) Benjamin, Arlington; Mary (Murray) Barkhouse, Lakewood Road; Arlene (David) Corkum, Berwick; Donna MacInnis, Dartmouth, N.S. Eight sons: Austin (Theresa) MacInnis, Weaver Road; Stacy MacInnis, Fredericton N.B; Gerald ( Linda) MacInnis, Port Williams; Howard (Christina) MacInnis, Glenmont; Arnold (Rachel) MacInnis, Canning; John MacInnis, Kentville; Charles (Linda) MacInnis, West Halls Harbour; David (Peggy) MacInnis, Scott?¢s Bay Road. Besides his wife ,Leona, he was predeceased by brothers St. Clair, Donald and Paul; sisters Addie, Margaret, Ethel, Sadie and Ruth; daughter, Sylvia, son Arthur; grandsons Allison and Jason; granddaughter Sarah(Sally). A very special thank you to the staff at Windsor Elms Village. Your dedication and T.L.C. goes beyond the call of duty in creating a home away from home for those with special needs. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday November 28 in Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville, Nova Scotia where funeral will be Tuesday, November 29 at 2:00pm. William Bryant and Eric Lockhart officiating. Burial in Habitant Cemetery at a later date.
