Melanson, Irene Lucie (Smith) - 85, Gilberts Cove passed away November 27, 2011 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Ashmore, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Maillet) Smith. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother and great nanny to David, Kamryn and Davin. She loved to knit, cook and take great care of her family. She is survived by her daughters Anna (Ronald) MacDonald, Gilberts Cove, Christine (Keith) Haynes, Digby; grandson, David (Susan) Haynes, Digby; great grandchildren Kamryn Haynes, Davin Haynes and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Anthony; brothers Walter, Earl, Arthur, Fred, Albert, Charles; sisters Marion, Stella and Elsie. Cremation has taken place. Mass will be held Saturday December 3, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Plympton with Father Keith Billard officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Cemetery, Plympton. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, Nova Scotia B4P 1E7.
