Butler, Ernest Barclay - 86, Kingsport passed away suddenly on December 6, 2011 at home. Born in Somerset he was a son of the late Leslie and Mary-Ellen (Arenburg) Butler. Ernest was a veteran of World War Two serving in Holland and Germany. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch#73, Canning. He ran the S&M Canteen and pool hall in Kingsport for many years. He also was the provider of fortifying substances for the neighbours; he kept his finger on the social pulse of Kingsport. Ernest loved his cat - Blackie쳌. He thought the world of him and would always make sure he was in the house by midnight. Ernest was always active, whether in the barn or in the yard tending to his peach, apple or plumb trees. He enjoyed flea markets and yard sales. Ernest adored and loved his grandchildren who meant the world to him and he loved to tease them. He also thought very much of specials friends Cory, Linda, Jim and Murray, who made often visits to Ernest to check in on him and see if anything needed to be done. Ernest will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrna (Lenihan); sons, Basil (Betty), Kingsport; Barry (Wilma), Fredericton, Bruce (Darlene), Kentville; Terry (Lisa), Kentville, Jeffrey (Carla), Greenwich; daughters, Dorothy (Malcom) Newell, Yarmouth; Shirley (Mawson) Baltzer, Woodville; Donna (Murray) Chase, Aylesford; Linda Strong, Canning; Brothers, Robert, Toronto; Harris (Lucille), New Minas; sisters Pauline Maddox, Dartmouth; Alice Frizzell, Windsor; Mary Desroches, Calgary; 31 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parent, Ernest was predeceased by a son Robert; daughters Mary, and Elizabeth; brother Harry, Clifford, Rufus, and Russell; sisters Hilda, and Helen. Visitation will be Thursday December 8, 2011 in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville from where a funeral service will be held on Friday December 9 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Sandra Fyfe officiating. Donations in memory of Ernest may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
