MELANSON, Kathleen May (Fredericks) "Kay" "Kassy" - 82, Plympton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 21, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on November 21, 1929 in Bridgetown she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Vidito) Fredericks. Kays love of children began at an early age. Helping with her siblings and her love for children continued to grow to become one of the most loved and cherished mother one could have. Kassy had worked for the Queen Ann Hotel and Chipman Farms at a young age. Her later years seen her as a camp cook and housewife. She was an Awana leader and the finest example of a witness to the lord. Kay was a member of the Plympton Baptist Church. Kathleen is survived by daughter Betty Melanson, Plympton; sons John, Brian, David, Chris (adopted son), all of Plympton; sisters Helen (Donnie) Johnston, Annapolis Royal, Faye (Kenneth) Halliday, Hillsburne, Mona Eaton, Bridgetown; brothers Henry (Shirley), Greenwood, Richard, Lawrencetown, James, Wilmot, Edward, Tupperville; grandchildren Angela, Taylor, Sydney, Matthew, Melanie, Lisa, Megan, and Chris; great grandchildren Adam, Katelyn, Brandon, Leanne, Kayla, Chad and Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Sydney; daughters Darlene Laplant, Carolyn Harnish; son Edward; sisters Geraldine Vidito, Evelyn Amero, Mildred Harlow; brothers Charles, Wayne; and brother in law Stanley. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service followed by a pot luck reception will be held 1:00 p.m. January 3, 2011 in the Plympton Baptist Church with Philip Boudreau and Randy Risinger officiating. Burial North Range Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Kay?¢s memory may be made to charity of choice.
