Frost (Hiltz), Jean Elsie- 78, Berwick, Kings County, died Thursday, January 12, 2012, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Harmony, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late George Filson Hiltz and Scilena Mae Hiltz. Jean moved to Berwick 60 years ago when she married the late Ernest Stephen Frost. There she raised four daughters: Irene (Loran) Baker; Anna (Reg) Mattheson; Brenda Frost; and Janice (Andreas Steinmar) Vining. Surviving are brother, Ivan Hiltz; sister, Hazel Janowitz; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son in infancy; brother, Randolph Hiltz; and sister, Nellie Brown. Jean had been employed with the old Avon canning factories working in the Berwick, Waterville and Port Williams facilities for six years. She then went to work at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre for 26 years. Later, she worked as a housekeeper for Norma Parker, and Gerald and Vivian Bezanson, recently retiring in the fall due to ill health. Jean requested a cremation; therefore, there will be no visitation prior. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick with the Reverend Charles Bull officiating. Burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Reception to take place at Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home following burial. Family flowers only please. Donations can be made in memory to the Berwick and District Fire Department.
