Hiltz, Jean Annie (Gates) - 77, of the Forties; passed away suddenly in her home on January 23, 2012. Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of Millage and Dorothy (Spidle) Gates. Jean was Calvin?¢s partner, soul mate, and right hand man on the farm. She was an excellent home maker, a great cook, and had a house and table that were open to all. Jean was known and envied for her beautiful embroidered quilts. As well everyone knew how much she loved her cats. Jean was a well known community worker and a friend to all. Jean will be sadly missed by her husband Calvin; daughter Marlene (Donnie Eikle), Bridgewater; brother Lindsay (Margaret) Gates, Timberlea; and her sister Winnie (Eldon) Forbes, Tatamagouche. She is predeceased by her parents. Visitation will be held in the Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, New Ross on Thursday January 26, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the Forties Baptist Church, New Ross, on Friday January 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Hine officiating; followed by an interment in the Forties Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean?¢s memory may be made the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department, Forties Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
