Phillips, Garnet (Gary) Parker - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, brother and brother-in-law, Gary, on March 30, 2012. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side, just as she was for as long as they have been together. Gary was born on April 13, 1947 and raised in Sydney, NS. Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He loved spending time at his in-laws family cottage in the Margaree River in NS also. Gary joined the Military at a young age and was able to see much of this world in the time that Gary spent there. Gary was a retired Warrant Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces. Gary was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #098 in Kingston, NS. Gary is pre-deceased by his parents Margaret and Cecil Phillips and his mother-in-law Margarite Quirk. Gary is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Sherry-Ann (Dartmouth, NS), Tammy (Dartmouth, NS), his son Michael (Jennifer) (Devon, Ab) and his grandson Griffen, his brothers Edward (Phyllis) (Beaverbank, NS), Robert (Elenor) (Boularderie Ctr, NS), and his sister Jean (Edward Gillis) (Sydney, NS) and his father-in-law Michael Quirk. Gary is also survived by many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews also. Gary will be having a small farewell at the RCL Branch #098 Kingston, NS on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 2pm. He will then make his final journey home where he will also have a family farewell at a later date at St. Mathews Wesley United Church and interment to be at holy Cross Cemetery also at a later date. .
