SHATFORD, Vernon Blois - 87 of Halifax, passed peacefully away in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on May 6th, 2012. He is survived by his sisters, Rose Sweeney, Halifax; Minette Demchuck, Hubbards and stepsister, Jeanine Verge, Hubbards; nieces, Nancy Harnish and Beverly Levy. He will be sadly missed by several great nieces and nephews. Blois was predeceased by his parents, Ellison Oscar Shatford and Gladys Cordell Shatford; stepmother, Geraldine Shatford; brother, Ellison and sister, Eleanor. Blois was a student at the Halifax School for the Deaf and was very involved within various Deaf organizations for many years. Special "thank you" to Northwood Care staff, especially Donna Glass, Linda Quigley and the staff of Northwood Manor. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Northwood Care on Thursday, May 10th, at 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow in Fox Point Baptist Cemetery in Mill Cove at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northwood Foundation Deaf Activity fund.
